Wesabe, a finance management site, recently added Twitter integration to their growing toolbox. The Wesabe service already provides a number of automated features, but entering cash expenses prior to this integration required logging each of your transactions while sitting in front of a computer. Adding Twitter into the mix provides Wesabe users with a quick way to add transactions to their cash accounts while on the go.
In Wesabe’s blog post introducing this feature they addressed my immediate concerns with privacy. They clearly state that users shouldn’t expect the same level of privacy protection on Twitter as Wesabe provides through their own service. They even go as far as cautioning their users to “use this for not-very-private purchases only“.
Sending transactions over Twitter, given its reliability history as a microblogging platform, may become a frustrating for Wesabe users. However, for those willing to trust both services with their expense history, this feature has the potential to become a great addition to expense tracking and analytics for those using cash on the go.
