While cruising through the Microblink Pownce stream today I came across a new microblogging platform called koornk.

Foomandoonian, whose Pownce post introduced me the platform, already seems to be passing judgement, stating:

“it doesn’t seem to add anything new to the microblog” -Foomandoonian

Here at Microblink we’re a bit more cautious and welcoming, so we’ll give these guys a chance and check out what they have to offer.

The team from Domenca do a pretty good job of explaining what the platform is and why you should use it, so we’ll just include their notes instead of trying to rehash it:

What is koornk?

koornk is your personal shouting place that lets you stay in touch with your friends via short, quick messages. It works the other way too. And all you have to do is tell your friends (and the world) what are you doing at the moment.

Why should I use koornk?

It only takes a few moments to stay in touch. It’s fast, it’s free and everybody can join.

• Travelling to Bali? Maybe somebody you know is (was just) there.
• Thinking of quitting your job? Get advice from your friends.
• Going to a date? Your girlfriend might want to know

How does it work?

koornk is the ultimate social tool, that keeps you in the know what everybody is doing or thinking of doing. If it gets too cluttered you can always stop following updates in a snap. The way back is just as simple. There is no thing as too much or too little information with koornk – because the person in the driving seat is you.

Though the opening page is in English, the blog, terms and privacy statements are all in a different language, possibly hinting at koornk’s relevance as a geographically- or language-targeted microblogging platform.
