Pownce’s Fire Eagle Integration Goes Public

Today, Pownce developer, Matt Malone announced that Pownce’s Fire Eagle Integration is now available to all Pownce users. This new feature has not been listed on the Pownce blog at the time of this post, however it has been reposted by the Pownce team in their feeds and a small blurb is available on user pages underĀ  “Pownce News”.

The setup for this feature is simple. Once completed, profiles will use the Fire Eagle location by default and new posts will include location at the bottom of the post. This is a great way for Pownce to quickly get into the location based microblogging scene and provide a whole new list of opportunities for mashups and location based networking at the same time.

It is great to see new features being rolled out to the user community, though the Fire Eagle integration should come as no surprise. A number of users have been using this feature for some time now, but I continue to be amazed that the Pownce team has yet to announce anything through their blog. This new feature just doesn’t feel official yet and it would make sense to provide additional information to users about why they should use this feature.
