MyKad

MyKad, short for «Malaysian Identity Card», is a government-issued identification card for Malaysian citizens introduced on September 5, 2001. The MyKad replaced the previous identification card known as the High Quality Identity Card (Kad Pengenalan Bermutu Tinggi) in Malaysia, enhancing the features by incorporating a microchip for storing biometric data like fingerprints, alongside photo identification. It’s also used for electronic payments especially in public transport.
