The European Union offers co-financing for many fields throughout various Funding Programmes. The work we do in Microblink is eligible for co-financing covered by European Structural and Investments Funds, within a framework of the Operational Programme “Competitiveness and cohesion 2014.-2020.”. ESI funds are used to boost jobs, growth, and investment across Europe while focusing on the least developed areas and sectors with growth potential.

Call for project proposals: Increasing the development of new products and services resulting from research and development activities

The Beneficiary: Microblink Ltd.

Project name: Secure Vision – Preventing cyber fraud by authenticating identity documents and payment cards with a cellphone camera

About the project: The project was co-financed by the European Union from the European structural and investment funds (ESIF). 
SecureVision is a project for developing an innovative solution for advanced remote user identification using a mobile phone. With this project, we want to perform fast and reliable scanning of official identification documents and payment cards with a cellphone camera. Research and development will focus on the application of deep neural networks for new authentication methods and better document reading.

Project implementation period: November 2017 to April 2020 (11/2017- 04/2020); 30 months

Total value of the project: 7,907,073.56 Croatian kunas, out of which 4,777,929.79 are non-refundable grants financed by the European Union, from the European Regional Development Fund.

General objective: the objective of the project “Secure Vision” is to facilitate R&D of new innovative solutions which will enable secure remote identity verification using the mobile device camera. The objective is to develop the product up to the TRL 8 (System complete and qualified) which enables its commercialization on the global market.

The results of the R&D project will be:

  1. IDVerify – A module for data extraction from identity documents
  2. CardVerify – A module for data extraction from payment cards
  3. A comprehensive Secure Vision solution

Project name: Microblink – Internationalisation of Microblink’s innovative software solutions to the global market

About the project: The project was co-financed by the European Union from the European regional development fund (RGDF).

Project implementation period: September 2019 to January 2021. (09/2019-01/2021); 16 months

Total value of the project: 694,983.57 Croatian kunas, out of which 468,336.03 HRK are the non-refundable grants financed by the European Union, from the European Regional Development Fund.

General objective: the objective of the “Microblink’s innovative software solutions to the global market” project is to contribute to the internationalisation of business for Microblink Ltd., mainly by attending conferences that would allow us to show our expertise and increase our presence in the new and existing markets.

Some of the conferences included in our project are ICE – London (02/2020), virtual GSMA North America Thrive (10/2020), virtual Hong Kong Fintech Week (11/020), virtual Identity Week (11/2020), KNOW Identity Digital Forum (12/2020). Attending these conferences is a vital part of our marketing strategy.

ICE – London (02/2020) 

The gaming market is on the rise. Microblink’s solutions fit in well in the industry, so we realized that ICE is the conference to which our products can bring real value to online gaming businesses. It was our first time to be a part of a large scale gaming conference such as ICE London. We took the opportunity to see the present and future of gaming and drive revenues through invaluable meetings and networking.

GSMA North America Thrive (10/2020)

Fantastic three days of virtual GSMA North America spent with technology leaders. This year, we took the stage and spoke about how businesses can use AI to empower user experience in their mobile and web apps. At our booth, attendees could find out how our products transform remote user registration, online check-out, age verification and other processes.

Hong Kong Fintech Week (11/2020)

One of the biggest fintech conferences had its virtual edition in November. We showcased two technology demos (BlinkID and BlinkCard) and had our first workshop on Frictionless user onboarding for financial services. With more than 100 visits to our virtual booth and 30+ meetings arranged, we find HKFW very successful.

Identity Week (11/2020)

In November 2020., another physical showed moved from London to the Swapcard platform, where we showcased BlinkID through two technology demos. Our Head of Sales, Valentina Kušek, was one of the panelists at the ‘Getting onboarding right’ panel. Identity Week was one of the best events so far, with more than 200 visits at our booth, 150 clicks on our ads, and 500+ views of our demos and panel show.

KNOW Identity Digital Forum (12/2020)

We attended the KNOW Identity Digital Forum conference for the second time. It was an excellent opportunity to present our two intelligent data extraction solutions to worldwide identity verification companies. Overall a great leading event for digital identity, trust, and the data economy.

About the project: The project was co-financed by the European Union from the European regional development fund (RGDF).

Project implementation period: June 2017 to July 2019. (06/2017-07/2019); 25 months

Total value of the project: 1.034.626,02 Croatian kunas, out of which 716.313,38 are non-refundable grants financed by the European Union, from the European Regional Development Fund.

General objective: the objective of the “Microblink – SME Internationalization of innovative technology for text recognition in real time on mobile devices” project is to contribute to the internationalisation of business for Microblink Ltd., mainly by attending conferences which would allow us to show our expertise and increase our presence in the new and existing markets (primarily Asian, where we only have clients in Malaysia).

Some of the conferences included in our project are Money 20/20 Asia (03/2018), Seamless Dubai (04/2018), RBTE London (05/2018), Money 20/20 Las Vegas (10/2018), GSMA Mobile World Congress Barcelona (2/2019) and Mobile World Congress Shanghai (2019.). Attending these conferences is a vital part of our marketing strategy.

Money 20/20 Asia, Singapore

After successful participation in Money 20/20 events in Europe and the USA, we were happy to exhibit at the first-ever Money 20/20 Asia show! We showcased the latest advances in our proprietary tech and the newest solutions for the payments and financial services sector.

Seamless Middle East, Dubai

We participated in the Seamless Middle East conference for the first time, where we had the opportunity to introduce our newly upgraded OCR solutions for the Middle East market, primarily identity document scanning.

Retail Business Technology Expo (RBTE), London 

We made a grand entrance into the retail industry with BlinkRecepit, our intelligent retail receipt scanner.

We are proud to have showcased our latest data extraction solutions at one of the leading fintech and payments events in the world. The visitors were most excited to see live demos of our products BlinkID and BlinkReceipt. 

MWC 2019, Barcelona

Gathering over 100k industry experts, innovators and technology enthusiasts from all around the world, MWC 2019 (formerly Mobile World Congress) once again provided an insight into how the digital ecosystem will shape our future. We were happy to showcase new advances we made in building our machine learning system, as well as newly developed solutions: new BlinkID features and a brand new product: BlinkCard.

MWC 2019, Shanghai

After successfully exhibiting at MWC Barcelona for several years in a row, we were excited to present the latest advances we made in our technology in the epicenter of the world’s mobile ecosystem. Lots of visitors at MWC Shanghai were interested to see how our top-notch technology for data extraction empowers mobile and web apps to easily “read” identity and payment documents.
