Alien ID

An Alien ID, commonly known as an Alien Registration Number (A-Number), is a unique identifier assigned by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to non-U.S. citizens. It is used to track and identify individuals who are legally residing in the United States, including immigrants, refugees, and non-immigrant visa holders. The Alien ID is issued to non-citizens during various immigration processes, such as applying for a green card, seeking employment authorization, or obtaining a visa extension.

The Alien ID consists of a nine-digit number and is printed on official USCIS documents, such as the Employment Authorization Document (EAD), Permanent Resident Card (green card), or a Form I-797 Notice of Action. The USCIS uses this unique identifier to maintain records and monitor the immigration status of non-U.S. citizens, ensuring compliance with immigration laws. It is important for non-citizens to keep their Alien ID number secure and provide it when required for immigration-related purposes.
