With Microblink, you can turn any smartphone into a mobile barcode reader, while creating a frictionless experience your users will love.
What is PDF417?
PDF417 may look like a typical rectangular barcode, but it can hold substantially more (and more complex) data. Even though it more closely resembles traditional linear barcodes, the data codewords located in the middle give PDF417 its 2D perspective. For this reason, and due to its high data density, PDF417 is grouped with other prominent 2D barcodes]
One of PDF417’s most prominent use cases is being printed on an array of identity documents, including US driver’s licenses and identification cards, making the ability to accurately and efficiently read them critical for any organization performing identity verification. (You might not know it, but essentially all of the information you see on the front of your ID card is embedded in the PDF417 code located on the back!).
