New: Keep tabs on your user verifications in a tab

The 3.0 release of the Identity Verification means you can now meet users in any browser and manage their verifications in one place.

When we launched Identity Verification in 2021, the goal was simple — help businesses verify their users remotely in a secure and easy way.

In talking with these businesses, we quickly learned that making sure users are who they say they are is only a part of the problem. They wanted to see the users who have verified themselves in their app, and manage all verifications from one place.

For example, if a user reached out saying they’re unable to verify their identity, a team in charge of user onboarding could quickly investigate the issue by looking at their records. They may find that their ID has expired and decide to approve them anyway, or advise them to use another document. Or, they could set a rule to automatically accept documents past their expiry date.

As a result of these — and many other — needs, we built a visual display of all of your user data, complete with advanced features that make it easy to track and manage verifications more efficiently.

Introducing the Identity Dashboard

The Identity Dashboard gives you a 360 degree view of who your users are as well as powerful tools for handling new and existing verifications.

At a glance view of all your users

The main page lists all of your users and assigns them a verification status that lets you see where they are in their verification process. This can either be:

  • Verified: The user has been successfully verified. They passed all of the verification steps and checks to prove they are a real human being in possession of a real government-issued ID.
  • Not Verified: The user has failed to verify their identity. They have gone through all of the verification steps but have had issues proving their ID document is valid and belongs to them.
  • Needs Review: The user has failed one of the checks set in your verification rules and needs manual approval.
  • Not Completed: The user has abandoned their verification process. They weren’t able to pass one of the steps or quit midway through.

You can zero in on a particular user to get a breakdown of the steps they’ve taken to confirm their identity:

And dive deeper to see their verification data, including multiple photos of their ID document and face:

This way, you can make an instant, data-driven decision to change a user’s verification status directly from your dashboard. Remember to leave a comment describing your decision, because…

Your team can jump on board, too

Identity verification isn’t a solo effort. Invite other team members to your dashboard and assign them roles with varying access rights. Together, you can create different rules on what constitutes a successful verification. Set an age limit for new users, accept documents past their expiry date or pick an ideal face match level for your use case.

What else is new?

Apart from the Identity Dashboard, the 3.0 release also opens your business up to a new acquisition channel — the World Wide Web.

We’ve pioneered browser-based ID scanning and we’re now bringing identity verification to the web, too. The Identity Verification In-browser SDK makes it easy for new users to verify their identity in the world’s most popular web browsers, including Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Microsoft Edge.

It’s based on WebAssembly, which makes it run incredibly fast in modern browsers. You can expect similar performance you’d get in your mobile app, at half the integration effort. Not bad, right?

Coming up

As more and more businesses make the switch to remote identity verification, we’re keeping our ear to the ground to keep delivering on your needs.

In the coming months, stay on the lookout for more features and tools that let you verify users are who they say they are, including improved document verification, flow orchestration, NFC scanning and more.
