Want to make optimal ID document scanning a part of your platform?

Follow our step-by-step guide on getting started with BlinkID ― for engineers and developers

BlinkID is Microblink’s AI-driven software solution that enables seamless scanning and data extraction of identity documents. With the ability to scan document types from 138 countries ― including driver’s licenses, passports, and other government-issued IDs ― our solution serves a number of industries and companies looking to evolve their identity verification process.

By utilizing proprietary AI ― based on running multiple machine learning models on-device and in-browser ―  Microblink ensures a precise, lightning-fast (under 0.4 seconds) ID scanning and data extraction experience for clients and end users alike. Integration is available for mobile, desktop, and web apps, and delivered in a compact size of less than 5 MBs.

For engineers and developers tasked with integrating BlinkID into their platforms, the process to get started couldn’t be simpler. You could even say it’s as easy as 1-2-3.

In this blog post, we’ll go over the steps for getting started at our developer hub

Create an account

The first step is creating your Microblink account. Just provide some basic info (including your: name, email, organization, title, industry, and country) and you’ll be on your way.

Choose your documentation

BlinkID is a versatile software tool for various types of integration. As a result, we have documentation available for all platforms, whether you seek a mobile SDK, web-based API, or more deep-level integration.

For mobile users, we have SDKs equipped for Android (version 4.1 or higher) and iOS (9.0 or higher), as well as cross-platform options compatible with Capacitor, Cordova, Flutter, React Native, and Xamarin. For web users, documentation is available for cloud API, in-browser SDK (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge), and self-hosted API (Linux, MacOS, Windows).

Request a free trial

After activating your account and choosing the appropriate documentation, you’ll be ready for your 30-day free trial! From there, you can start building your custom solution accessing all available product features, via a license key to start testing our mobile SDKs or API keys to test our web-based versions.

Product features

Once you have your trial up and running, there are a host of product features that make Microblink the premier ID scanning and data extraction product on the market.

Intuitive UX: Through our autodetection and autoclassification features, users can submit their ID with no need for preselection of document type or country of origin. Real-time feedback guides users through a successful scan, everytime.

Privacy and security: Works on-device and in-browser ― meaning data and images are not sent to third-party servers for processing.

Smart image capture: Snaps a clear, high-res image of both the document and user’s face ― regardless of camera angle or lighting.

Field anonymization: As an added security feature, we can mask certain parts of an identity document to comply with applicable privacy laws.

Age verification: Displays a warning message if the user scanning the document is below the age limit set by the service provider.
