PRIVACY NOTICE
Microblink Identity application

Identity of the controller

Microblink LLC, Trg Drage Iblera 10, Zagreb, Croatia PIN: 21173725829 (hereinafter: “Microblink”), acts in the capacity of the data controller when processing your personal data as described in this Privacy Notice.

Purpose of Microblink Identity

Microblink’s Identity application (“App”) is made to showcase Microblink’s technology, BlinkID and BlinkCard and its components, Capture, Extract and Verify. Therefore, images you scan using the app will be processed as described bellow and no personal data will be permanently stored or processed for any other purpose.

Description of the processing

BlinkID

When you try out BlinkID components Capture and Extract, your personal data is processed solely on the device and your data is not shared with Microblink. On the other hand, when you try out the Verify component of BlinkID, your personal data is sent out for processing to Microblink’s cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform. In this case, Microblink processes personal data based on our legitimate interest in demonstrating our technology to interested parties, and without processing personal data, this would not be possible.

Depending on the type of document you scan, Verify component processes the following categories of personal data: first and last name, address, date, and place of birth, gender, sex, nationality, country of residence, signature, passport number, social security number, driver’s license number, state or national ID card number, personal identification number, face image, eye color, weight, height, organ donor status, biometric data (not used to undeniably identify an individual) or other categories of data found on scanned documents.

After you scan the document, this scan is sent out to Microblink’s application programming interface (API). To ensure the highest level of availability for App users around the world, Microblink API is distributed globally using Google Cloud Load Balancing. This means that potentially, for example, personal data scanned in the European Union can be exported to Microblink’s cloud servers in the United States or Asia for processing. Besides ensuring the highest levels of availability, using Google Cloud Load Balancing also means that the same level of security will be maintained by using best practices and configuration that Google Cloud Platform has to offer, including but not limited to, encryption of data in transit and at rest, Google Armor protection from DDoS attacks and WAF firewall.

After the presence of security features on the document is checked, the verification status will appear on your screen. Microblink deletes all personal data after the verification session has been completed. Personal data connected to this processing is not intended for access by Microblink or any third party.

If you share the personal data of third parties with Microblink, you are responsible for ensuring an appropriate lawful basis for any such sharing of third-party personal data. Microblink may ask you to provide evidence that such data is shared on an appropriate lawful basis. Microblink shall use its best efforts to ensure that third parties’ personal data is processed, handled, and collected in the same manner as your own personal data. However, you are solely responsible for using a lawful basis to share personal data from third parties with Microblink.

BlinkCard

When you try out BlinkCard components Capture, Extract and Verify processing is performed on device and personal data is not shared with Microblink.
